Clemens privacy policy

Clemens is developed by Nanda Kusumadi. This policy covers the native Clemens app, including the features prepared for version 1.2.1. Effective date: 25 October 2026. Contact: clemens@nandakusumadi.com.

Your library and reading data

Clemens stores the publications and audio files you import, their metadata and cover images, reading and listening progress, bookmarks, highlights, notes, transcripts and preferences in its app storage. Comic crop settings are stored with a publication identity. You choose the files to import. Clemens does not access Apple Books’ private library or require a Clemens account.

On-device narration and transcription

Ebook narration and audiobook transcription run on your device. Clemens does not send book text or audiobook audio to developer servers for those features. Apple speech features may download language assets from Apple before use; the bundled realistic narration model is processed locally. Your device and language determine which features are available.

Optional iCloud synchronization

Library sync uses your Apple iCloud account and is enabled by default when available. You can turn it off in Clemens Settings. When enabled, imported books and audio, transcripts, progress, library arrangement and listening settings can be stored in your iCloud and synchronized to your devices. Enabling sync also uploads existing local imports. Reading appearance and layout stay on the device. Apple operates iCloud under its own privacy policy.

Highlights, notes, bookmarks and crops

Highlights and notes can include selected passages, highlighted images, surrounding book text and your own notes. They require a separate sync switch, as do bookmarks. These switches preserve your choice for each device and iCloud account. Comic crops require a separate sync choice in the crop editor for each comic. Turning a switch off stops further synchronization for that feature; existing iCloud copies remain.

Purchases

Apple processes in-app purchases and restores through StoreKit. Clemens uses Apple-verified purchase information to determine access and saves that access locally for use offline. The developer does not receive your payment card details. Purchase and account information processed by Apple is governed by Apple’s privacy policy.

Exports, links and support

When you choose to export or share files or reading data, the destination app or recipient receives what you select. Opening an external link connects to that website under its own privacy practices. If you email support, Nanda Kusumadi receives the message, your email address and any attachments you choose to send. Support correspondence is used to respond and investigate the issue and retained only as needed for that purpose or applicable obligations. Avoid sending private book content or credentials.

Advertising and tracking

Clemens contains no advertising or third-party analytics or tracking SDK. It does not sell your library or reading data. The native app’s practices are separate from this website’s server logs and analytics, which are described in the website privacy notice.

Retention and deletion

Local library data and generated files remain until removed through the app or its storage is removed. Keep original files if you may need to import them again. Turning sync off or deleting the app does not remove copies already stored in iCloud, device backups, exports or a recipient’s storage. Manage remaining iCloud data and backups in Apple’s storage settings, and remove exported copies from their destinations separately. Files you selected outside Clemens remain in their original location unless you remove them there.

Questions and policy updates

For privacy questions or requests relating to information you have sent directly to the developer, email clemens@nandakusumadi.com. The developer cannot retrieve your private on-device library for you. Changes to this policy will be posted here with an updated effective date. Clemens Support provides help with the app.
