Importing books, comics and audio
Use the library’s import action to select your own DRM-free EPUB, PDF, CBZ or CBR files, or MP3, M4A or M4B audiobooks from Files. Clemens cannot open DRM-protected books or read another app’s private library. If an import fails, make sure the file has downloaded from its storage provider and opens in a compatible app. Keep the original file while troubleshooting.
Comic titles and page layout
Comic titles use embedded metadata or the source filename when metadata is missing. A filename made of random characters may need a clearer name before import. Reader settings let you choose the reading direction and page layout; the comic crop editor can apply the same crop to all pages or separate crops to odd and even pages.
Narration and audiobook transcripts
Open an ebook with readable text to start narration. Scanned pages and comic images do not supply narration text. Realistic voice availability depends on the device and language; Apple speech is available as a fallback. Audiobook transcription runs on the device in supported languages and may first need an Apple speech-model download. Long books can take time to transcribe.
iCloud and missing downloads
Check that the devices use the same iCloud account, have available storage and a network connection, and that Settings → Sync library with iCloud is enabled in Clemens. Enabling sync also uploads existing local imports. Highlights, notes and bookmarks have separate switches. Comic crop sync is enabled inside each comic’s crop editor. Turning sync off keeps existing iCloud copies; it does not delete them.
Library packs and restoring purchases
Version 1.2.1 provides a free allowance of 100 ebooks, 100 comics and 100 audiobooks, with separate one-time packs or a bundle to lift the relevant limits. Existing Unlimited Library buyers retain access across all three categories. Open Settings → View library packs to see the current offer or use Restore Purchases with the Apple Account that made the purchase. Contact support if access is still missing. Apple handles payments and refund requests.
Privacy and removing data
